You need to use the right product on it. Letting it go without anything to weigh it down will just cause it to frizz and lose the curl. After you wash it, while it is still wet, put a creme-based moisturizing or deep conditioning hair creme on it and leave it in. Pantene Hydrating Curls is a good line of products.
Even if it says to rinse it out after a while, just don't. It will keep the curls smooth and it is not icky like gel.
If you dry your hair, use a dryer with a diffuser attachment.

My hair is really very curly and what I do is take a shower the night before school, that way my hair is still clean and it is dry. Then i apply hair spray before i start straighting it with a ceramic straightner. After i put hairspray in again. If that doesnt heklp then maybe u need a thinning and ur ends cut. Sry if that didnt help

I just recomended this product to another person on yahoo, but again you should try the Matrix "sleek look" line. Its in orange bottles and sold in salons. You need to use it as a system by at least using the shampoo and conditioner. Its a wonderful line you can read about it at www.matrix.com. Try the shampoo & conditioner and they have a few styling creams that youll need to look at and determine the strength you need for your hair. Its really good stuff - smells great too!

But the last option, if you really can't do anything to control the frizziness and you dislike the curls, is to get it permanently straightened.
