A former regestered nurse, Andrea Yates drowned her 5 children one by one...then turned herself in. She made sure she had undergone psychiatric counseling and was on mild medication. Post-partum psychosis usually accounts for newborn homicide...what say ye of the internet jury...Yates is serving LIFE, could get off, if loses will go back to LIFE Imprisonment. Another chance...why or why not?

amazing isnt it. I thought we had her locked up the first time around. The other one that smashed her kids heads in with rocks is going to get off to as insane.

She should be drowned like her poor little babies were. She has no excuse for killing 5 kids. How does one day she all of asudden snaps and kills her babies? Oh yeah she was on meds and seeing a Dr well what the hell did they talk about? If she was so bad that she is psychotic enough to kill all 5 kids don't you think that Dr would have had some idea how bad off she was? I think this is just another chance for her to get away with the murder that she didn't get away with the first time.

Law is not based on emotion. In the case of Yates first trial, there were procedural issues including one of the primary witnesses lying on the stand that call into question if she really received a fair trial. Isn't that the goal of a society based on rule of law, to have things decided according to those laws?

A 'Spree' killer like her, if already
proved beyond reasonable doubt
should do life *4 in prison.

Under what 'clause' is she getting
another trial? Once you've been tried
you can't be tried for same again?

Pls let me know more.

Terrible story!

I think this is not a question of does she deserve another trial. She should be behind bars for life. If she's mentally ill, she should be institutionalized for life. In any case, she should be behind locked doors. Isolated.

Nobody here (including you) knows all the facts, or the legal arguments. So it's a stupid question. Does she deserve a new trial? I don't know. Neither do you.
