I work from home and am not very creative. I have a boyfriend that I love and don't go out barely at all anymore (by choice). He is always doing guy things and I need something now.

I like the idea of cooking\baking. I have no experience in that area and really would like to learn. Any suggestions of a good cook book to start with?

You could take up painting. It's startlingly easy to do (even if you think you have no artistic talent, iit can be done). I just did a reproduction with acylic paints awhile ago and I can tell you it's deeply satisfying to see the end results. You can fill all the time you want with this and never get sick of it.

If you don't like drawing, the easiest way to start is to take a drawing/painting or something, make a transparency of it (print shops will do it for a few bucks) and put it on an overhead projector (I just bought one on E-bay for $20). Then buy some acryllic paints. They are very forgiving and pretty easy to paint over. I had to re-do a large portion of my painting and it doesn't show.

Trace the outlines and then paint over them in black. Just be careful not to get any black where the light colors are going to go. Once you get to this point, you'll be highly motivated to start the color. The first time I applied color to a canvas, it gave me a big rush. The rest is easy, the painting practically finishes itself from there. Trust me, you'll see what I mean.

You gotta try it out, you'll love it!

i love baking. i have three kids and to keep my sanity, i bake. i then share them off with my neighbors and classmates and husband's co-workers. everyone loves indulging in them and it makes me feel good to make people happy... even if it's just for five minutes. maybe you can bake and send the cakes off to a nearby hospital. everyone loves getting surprises, and remember, it's better to give than receive.
