As addictions go, the one to caffeine is a bit easier than others, the thing is, you need to be prepared for the possible headaches and fatigue. Soda is one of the main causes of the US obesity epidemic, so its in your best interest to start drinking water. I have spent most of my life addicted to soda but ice water with lime is pretty darn good. Soda is nothing but sugar and water, no nutritional value, but don't make the mistake of switching to fruit juice, though while containing more nutrients, is also very high calorie, mostly from sugar. Water is really your best bet for your weight, your kidneys, AND even your skin. Keeping hydrated with water will keep you looking younger LONGER! Don't make the mistake of trying to drink plain water if you have been drinking soda for a long time. It will be tasteless. Those flavored waters aren't good either. Overpriced, and either with artificial sweeteners that aren't good for you and have an aftertaste, or carbonated and hard on your kidneys as well. Its a habit like any other and takes a while to break, but if you keep working at ordering water in restaurants and drinking it at home, you won't be able to stomach soda anymore. Keep baggies of sliced lime (or lemon) in your fridge at home to add to ice water, and if nothing else, carry some in a baggie with you if you're at a fast food restaurant, where it won't be available. Most better restaurants though, will provide lemon for you. Good luck.

Try to reduce the number of sodas that you drink per day. Don't quit all at once or you'll get withdrawal headaches. Just gradually ease up on how many sodas you are drinking until you are down to one. Substitute the soda that has been cut out with juice or fruit water. I know that water tastes really bland and tasteless compared to soda, but at lesat if it is flavored it will go down a little easier. Hopefully you can eventually cut out sodas all together!
Good luck!

me too! but i am trying my best to stop drinking it, even the diet ones, even juices! anything with sugar -- i am trying to avoid, so im sticking with water. for one day, try to drink water instead of soda, it feels really good.
i had a serious soda addiction, what changed me was when one time, a friend forwarded me something about water and soda. water prevents dehydration, helps you feel full, and based on my experience, i feel energized (probably because i don't feel slumpy, especially when im dehydrated). with sodas... here are some facts.
- soda is actually used to clean up blood on highways after an accident
- a glass of soda is enough to dissolve a bone for 3 days. can you believe? when people die, bones stick around forever -- but soda makes them disappear!
i forgot the others, i'll try to look for those and post it over here. but ever since i've read those factual information, i just didn't want to drink soda anymore. (and lost weight!) soda is really bad for our health, so im encouraging you to quit drinking soda. it does a lot of harm, and has no advantages.
try not to substitute any sugary drinks for soda. it is actually the sugar that makes it very addicting. try eliminating a lot of sugary foods/drinks in your diet. it's tough at first, but once you get used to it, you won't look for it anymore, i promise.

You're addicted to the caffiene in the soda.....switch to a caffiene free soda, you may have to do this a little at a time, have a regualr soda, then caffiene free, to kind of ease off of it if you can't do it all at once.

yes,
try switiching to flavored carbonated water...and the GOOD kind, (not the fake-sugar kind).
then, start exercising and eating well -
you'll start to not crave the sweets so much.
i know it sounds cliche.
but the simplist advice is probably the hardest to follow (in this case)

use tons of ice for just 1 can, then go to half a can with half a can of water and ice. break that habit fast, that leads to lots of internal problems.
