Actually, according to Carlos Mencia, it's only in the US Southwest that a Hispanic as assumed to be Mexican. In New York, they're assumed to be Puerto Rican, and in Florida, to be Cuban.

Not saying it's right, of course. My Spanish is very bad, but I'm starting to notice differences in accents. Even inside Mexico, people from Zapoteca speak differently than folks from Tijuana, same as US folks from Minnesota and South Caroline speak different.

I think it's very cool that we have so many cultures here in the US. Each of them has something unique to offer.

Main reason is,that mexicans outnumber the rest of hispanics combined,they also are the ones that pissed off many US citizens when they paraded with the mexican flag while holding the US flag upside down,not to mention many mexican students waving the mexican flag and removing the US flag from school poles

Hispanics are actually Spaniards. Mexicans, El Salvadorians, etc are either Mestizos or a Mestizo/***** mix.

Ignorance is why they think that. And as long as they are not corrected they will always think that. But then again these are the same ignorant people who have decided to call black people African American. I have yet to find one ancestor from Africa and I can go back to the early 1800's .

I believe Mexicans fall into the category of Hispanic, Just like Europeans fall into the category of Caucasian. Just like Chinese & Japanese fall into the category of Asian. Get it?
