people who use the internet with malicious intent (ID theft, virus propagation, credit card fraud, etc.) cannot be ignored.
people who use the internet for predatory purposes can and should be ignored, and they will no longer be a problem. if people would get it out of their heads that the internet is a great place to set up a physical relationship, we wouldn't have the problems we hear about every day.
help keep the internet safe and free

You should not ignore those people because, like you said, they have a dangerous purpose.

How do you mean? Blocking people who you don't want to talk to over IM or what?
And you can always ignore people, that's not a question. All it takes is to, well, ignore them.
