If you believe the bible, then the Earth was created on October 23rd at 10:45AM in the year 4004 BC. according to Bishop Ulster of the early Medieval period. That would place snakes about October 28th of the same year, I believe. I once saw a Far Side/Gary Larson cartoon showing God making snakes out of clay and the caption read: "Sheesh! These things are a cinch to make!"

Oldest known snake fossil: Najash rionegrina (Mesozoic, late crustacean era). Give or take a few years, that would be in the year 89997994 BC. Allow some slack for its genuine ancestors to evolve from Lizards.
