Successive Lebanese governments have been unable to defend the Lebanese people and their infrastructure from internal and external aggression. An economy that has to rebuild itself every few years is not sustainable.

Wow you guys really dont know your history. Lebanon will neither merge w/ Syria nor Isreal. Isreal dosnt want them and Syria already dominates its southern half with hezbollah so Isreal wont let Lebanon merge w/ seyria because it will hurt them. Either way its not up to Lebanon hell their army right now dosnt even have planes just some helicopters. Lebanon is a democracy just an extreemly weak one so hopfully they can get their act together and become a strong independant nation free from hezbollah after Isreal finishes with them.

the UN needs to step up, tell Syria and Iran to get their sh*it out of Lebanon. Finally letting Lebanon be a sovereign state
