yes you can. when over-charged, batteries or any kind, mobile phone, recharables, etc, lose their battery life meaning they need to be recharged more often. you can get chargers that have a shut down feature when the battery is fully charged which cost a little more than normal chargers but are much more efficient and better for the batteries.
