No matter what I cry when I get yelled... no matter who's doing it, why, how nice they're trying to be or what it's about (even if it's totally stupid). Does anyone else do this? And how can I stop? I'm playing soccer in the fall w/ a coach that has a bad habbit of yelling.

I never cried to get my way when I was little and my parents were a little emotionally abusive.

Tone them out. As soon as they start their crap, start thinking about anywhere except where you are at that point. I mean, if you have a pet think about how much you love that pet, a boyfriend. It could be a place that you'd like to visit, take a short there in your head and land when they've stopped their escapade.
Bottom line is, most people can't express themselves w.out yelling, you first should know, it's never a personal attack. Most of the time they just want to get a point across but lack the intelligence to it the proper way.
But most importantly, don't take it to heart; you'll make yourself miserable. Listen to good, tone out the crap....................

You should ask yourself this question. It seem like you should be asking yourself why you are getting yelled at so much. I would also suggest a little growing up might be in order. I don't know how old you are but it seems like you are very young. When you were younger did you use crying to get things that you wanted ? If so,it just might be a habit you have. The next time someone yells at you, think about why they are yelling and take it from there. You just might see that crying doesn't work once you get older. It's not so cute anymore. Habits are hard to break, but they can be broken.

When I was younger, I used to be the same way. My teacher would yell at me for a missed homework assignment and I would try to hide my tears. My mother would yell at me for staying out past curfew, I would start balling. I think it's just a way of your mind telling you that you don't like being yelled at. You will eventually grow out of it. I thought I was gonna be a cry baby in high school, but it stopped.

I used to cry ~ then I realized I could walk away.
If you MUST be in the presence of a "yeller" just try not to take it personally...coaches can be the worst. Probably why I never played sports.
More power to ya for sticking it out. Maybe you'll learn to take it lightly and get thicker skin. Good luck.

I cry even when I'm just pissed off. It's so hard to go off on someone when you are crying and they can't understand what the hell you're saying.
Anyway, I would just imagine your coach yelling with no clothes on or his pants around his ankles. That will totally difuse your frustrated tears.

Go through your worst imagined senario in your mind, and do all your crying before you get there.
