he is going through a stage, eventually he will grow out of it. But it makes no difference what time he goees to bed, his internal clock is set to go off at 5 am. My son can go to bed at midnight and still wakes up his usual time.

Let him hear the rhythm
Babies are used to the sound of your heartbeat; that's another reason they love to be held close. But you can also try playing soft music, singing a lullaby
Put him in motion
Sometimes just the motion of carrying your baby around will be enough to calm him. Other times, it may help to rock him gently in a rocking chair or swing
Rub his tummy
Rubbing your baby's back or belly is one of the most soothing things you can do for him, especially if he's having gas pains, which may be the problem with some colicky babies.
Let him suck on something
Even when hes not hungry, sucking can steady an infant's heart rate, relax his stomach, and calm his flailing limbs. Give him a pacifier or a finger to clamp onto .

Does he have a load in his pants ?
He is hungry.
Get off your lazy a*ss and feed the dam thing.
Or at least reassure him with love and soothing touch and words.
Put him to bed a little later in the evening.
Stop giving him sweets before he goes to sleep.
Wake up before you f*uck up another life.
Be a good and caring mother.
Its your job, get use to it.

What time are you putting him to bed? You may need to put him to bed later. My daughter is 10 months old and I put her to bed at 9:00. She sleeps until 8-9:00. It's a great schedule for me as I am a stay at home Mom.

Seriously the letting the cry it out thing is all good except at that hour he really is hungry not just wanting to get up.... please feed him and then you can let him cry if you want to.... he'll probably sleep alot later that way too. Best wishes

Why would you leave your baby to cry when he wakes up and needs you? Would *you* want to be treated that way if *you* asked someone you loved for help?!
The way to "break the cycle" as you put it is to figure out what it is that he needs, give it to him, and wait for him to outgrow the need.

Consider a later bed time or reduce his nap times during the day. It might take a week, but it should help.

he is probably just Hungary. You should just feed him, so that he don't have to cry. My son gets up at 4:30 every morning to eat. If it is something else, call his Dr.
