Well, when I was growing up, my family was middle class. My dad had a great career and my mom was a homemaker. We were far from poor, and we weren't rich. But, we had our own house and land and we always had money in the bank. My brother and I did not get real expensive stuff, just every once in a while, but we never lacked for anything. Always had insurance if we got sick, and never had to get on any type of welfare. So I guess that middle class is not poor and not rich, probably just about right in the middle, or maybe just a tad above.

Remember this, because we are a disappearing entity. We the middle class generally rise every morning and go to a job outside of the home. Our homes are modest, but well kept, our cars the same. Some of us have boats, RVs and summer homes. We generally keep to ourselves and raise families. We are too engrossed in working to pay the bills and have no great depth of knowledge into political things. We vacation at the beaches and mountains, sent our kids to College when we can, and pay more than our fair share of taxes and assessments to keep our communities going. As the flood comes across the Southern Border we are being replaced at our jobs by the workers who have never experienced the middle class amenities. Aero Space workers of the seventies are almost gone. In their place are the fast food workers and gardeners. Some of us are clinging to Government jobs so that our heritage will be remembered, but the flood is up to our knees and rising.

American middle class would probably be families of doctors, lawyers, CEOs, some business owners, some executives. These would be average docs, lawyers... not the ones that work for celebrities - they'd be upper class.

Does it still exist. It seems to be no in between. Your either low or high. The middle has eith joined the lowest or the highest class. I think of it as your financial class.
