If it's the type of plant I'm thinking of, the lower ones die off and the plant keeps getting taller. That's just how they grow. Eventually, if it does not get a larger pot, it will become root bound and can't grow any larger. It will stop losing leaves or growing many new ones.

Fluoride in the water causes the spider to burn. You may have to use diff water for it.
