My parents insist that I play varsity soccer this fall and we had a deal. They came through on their end and now I'm stuck. I was fine until I saw the practice schedule and since I don't even want to play soccer very much it seems a little outragous. Practice is 6 days a week M-Th 8-10 10:45-12:30 F 8-10:30 10:45-1 S 9-11 is this a little much for 4 weeks straight. Also the coach tends to push a little hard, I know he's supposed to but that still seems like an awful long time to just play soccer and run. Some of my friends played with him on a summer league and ended up quitting b/c he made them do too much during a summer league which isn't even as bad as fall. Not to mention the coach has a newborn at home... seems like he should be taking care of that instead of killing his team. What do I do?

Hi there. Well, for starters, I don't think he is "killing the team." I was an athlete for many years. Practice really does make or break a team. If you do not make the best of the practices, you will be "killing yourself." Varsity sports are no place for a girl that does not want to be there. It really is not fair to put your teammates in the position to lose games because you are not dedicated. I apologize if I sound too harsh. :) However, your coach evidently understands that Varsity Sports are very competetive. He will know who should be there and who shouldn't after watching your performance in practice. So, to you, I suggest asking your parents if there is another sport you could play that would fulfill the agreement ya'll had. Also, if your school has cuts, ask your parents if they really want to see you cut from a team because your coach will be able to see that you are not really into it, and cut you. Otherwise, I suggest you play your heart out and make the best of it, you may thank your parents later for pushing you. This is not the case with everyone, I understand that, but the coach's schedule is not any different than any other Varsity Coach I have ever played for. Good luck in whatever you decide! Hang in there kid!

no such thing as to much practice when it comes to soccer, the more you practice the better you get you just have to stick with and who know you might have the best team this year.
