actually that is a bad idea. as you walk around the room near it your feet are kicking up dust. the computer's fan sucks all this dust inside the computer and screws up everything in there.
be smart put it up on a table or desk

The air is cooler close to the floor and that helps to keep the computer cool. The only worry is if there is a lot of dust on the floor.

Yes, but it generally collects more dust that way. You can do it, just kind of pay attention to that.
Dust buildup can cause the computer to overheat more easily.

yes, but make sure you put something underneath it to protect the carpet because the box will attract dust and if you have a light colored carpet, you'll see the outline of the box on the rug later.
