if electrons travel from negative to positive , does that mean they go from earth to live ?

no because your talking about AC when you say earth to live. In DC the electrons go from the negative voltage to the positive. In an AC circuit they are pushed back and forth by an AC voltage. So there is actually no 'net' movement. Like the atoms of water in the sea; they move back and forth as the wave passes but energy is conveyed not the atoms themselves

If electrons are travelling, as in an electronic system, then they are travelling in a circuit. The positive and negative sides of a battery are simply the cathode and anode that has a potential between them (i.e. voltage). Electric potential is simply the engine that's creating the circuit.

the electrons only ever go to earth if there is something wrong and then the fuse blows, electrons in dc current go from the negative electrode to the positive though curiously the definition of electric current is the direction of movement of positive charge so it's opposite to the electrons
