This is one bill I have been watching for and I thing it's a crying shame that he veto it. I wander if his wife, father, mother or children came down with parkinson disease if he would have a change in his opinion. I can not understand how he is justifing sending thousand of young men and women over in Iraq getting killed and saying it's for saving America lives. Then turn around and veto this bill , that would save lives of thousand for many years to come. I may have my views a little off but that's how I see it.

He was right to do so, this bill is not all about stem cell research because we already have non-embryonic stem cell research, this bill is about further degrading the value of an unborn child into what one person called a "parasite" inside the mother. This bill is about abortion not stem cell research. Back to stem cells, all the research that has been done has not been successful and there is no evidence that experimentation with embryonic stem cells will be any different, A stem cell is a stem cell is a stem cell, that what makes it a stem cell, it is undifferentiated, it doesnt matter where it comes from, we dont need to kill more unborn babies to collect them

oh yeah one other thing, if stem cell research was so promising why aren't more private companies researching it (because they would make a lot of money), do you know why? One guess. oh yeah, there have been no significant advances? But killing more people will right? No it wont, I agree with highergound

I think he could have used his veto power on something else besides stem cell research.
Did you know this is the first time he has vetoed a bill?
He has threatened to over 200 times, but each time congress bowed to the pressure and either changed the wording of the bill or dropped it all together.
The gov't can't spend money on something worthwile, how oh how could we afford all those bombs for Iraq.

YEAH!!! You go, George! The research shows that if you want real results you use ADULT stem cells. These can even be harvested from the person who needs the treatment, from fatty tissues, bone marrow, etc. There is NEVER any real need for embryonic stem cells. The real reason they want to do this is to someday clone a human being. If they can justify destroying a human embryo, they can justify killing your grandma because she is no longer useful. Or your cousin Bill who has cerebral palsy, etc. Kind of scary ain't it?
Anyway, KUDOs to our president for having the GUTS to do what is RIGHT!

I think the GOP is desperate to reclaim their Social Conservative voting base, and are playing bad cop/good cop. I'm hoping that their far right target is smarter than the party is giving them credit for, and hence, will not be fooled a second time by more meaningless dialectic.

This issue is moot in the minds of most professionals and scientists that I've spoken with who understand working with stem cells. It is a non-issue spun to be an issue in an effort to garner party affection in an election year. (Now calm down everyone, the democrats are just as guilty of this type of dialectic based stumping.)

Since embryonic stem cell research has been proven to be unsuccessful thus far, and since adult stem cell procedures have had multudinous successes, even enabling people to walk again, I say "no contest"--Bush just saved taxpayers a lot of money, and--need I state the obvious--he saved a lot of babies' lives too.

We have plenty of stem-cell cultures for the forseeable future and can accomodate any type of research purposes from this current stock. So there is no need to harvest new stem cells, which will cause pressure from the right to life advocates

I think he is a moron. I think he uses the bible for a science book, and his brain is so fried on booze and coke that he can't think straight.
Stem-cell research is a huge area of hope for so many diseases. He is just too stupid. They are going to throw the embryos away, instead of using them to help people.
What an idiot. It is embarrassing to live in the US these days. We are the laughing-stock of the rest of the civilized world. It will take 20 years to undo what that gonad has done.

I'm fine with it. All the bill did was provide a bunch of taxpayer money. It doesn't allow or disallow the research.

And if it's the will of the people, the Congress will have enough votes to override the veto.

Dee is an fool, Dee, in case you have ever spanked it, then you definately're virtually as to blame because the scientist performing those checks. An embryo is a few cells, and also you're killing thousands and thousands of sperm each and each and every time to spank it to Ann Coulter. yet anyhow, very last time I checked George W. Bush did no longer have a level in biology or organic and organic chemistry. Senator Rick Santorum, a superb celebration of an ignorant Republican actual needed the nationwide preserve to flow in and preserve those frozen embryos so scientist doesn't proceed their finding out. it is analagous to transferring troops in to guard the frozen chicken on the food market, after all, they're cells! If this keeps I forsee contained in the destiny human beings having to flow to Europe or China to remedy their continual diseases because those international places will be leaps and limits ahead individuals. in the period in-between, thank goodness we threw those frozen cells contained in the trash before all of us ought to apply them to added technological information's conflict adverse to ailment. those embryos are purely as alive as a epidermis cellular scraped off of your arm, so does the floor cellular out of your arm have its personal soul? i assume if the Bush administration got here upon out the following day that they could genetically engineer a stem cellular to metabolize water into oil he may be inquisitive about it! per chance someone close to and extreme priced to Bush or Cheney will improve a ailment or will change into paralyzed and may ought to deliver them to another usa to get the therapy he had deplored! Even better, the rustic that has the therapy they pick refuses because Bush already blew up thier infrastructure LOL!
