you see the last boyfriend I had hurt me I was off and on with him for three years. I decided to give this guy I know a chance but I am scared that he might hurt me too. He seems sweeter its just that I was hurt once and dont want to go through it again

Just remember that NOT everybody deserves a chance. If you're afraid of being hurt by him specifically-not just in general- watch out. I've had boyfriends that beat and hit me and tried to force themselves upon me- I never stuck it out after the second time because I believe that SOMETIMES a first slip is really just a slip- but sometimes I left the first time. You have to trust yourself. I am a survivor of long-term child sexual abuse and it's so hard for me to trust- my current boyfriend and I have been together for 10 wonderful months and he's never purposely hurt me in any way (I've never been with a guy longer than 2-2 1/2 mo.) You just need to know when and if it's time to go. Good luck.
P.S. It might be a good idea to talk to his exes!

If you love you will always have the potential of being hurt. Just the way it is. But what about not letting yourself love.
That is so much worse.
Take the chance because until you do you will never find that special man that will never hurt you. But this time don't go on and off for three years. If he hurts you move on to the next guy.
You will find him only if you look. Now or later but you will find him.

You spent 3 years with a guy that constantly hurt you. So whats wrong with taking a chance with a new guy. It may be the best chance you ever took.

Before u decide to date anyone else make yourself a mental checklist of what you are really looking for in a guy, how u like to be treated, and what you will and will not put up with. If this new one doesn't cut it, move on and find the one u truly want.
You can't go through life punishing others for what people in your past has done to you, so go with your gut, and go with what you really are looking for.

Every relationship is going to be different, and you may get hurt many times and in many different ways before you find the "right one". What you have to understand is that you can't control what others do and if you get mistreated, it's their problem that they have that personality....and nothing you may have done.
