I know... I am obsessing, but I am soooo anxious to have a baby it's awful. I get Mittelschmerz almost every month around the time of ovulation with all of the other ovulation symptoms. I have heard that you can get the CM, the change in cervical position, periods, the whole shabang but still have anovulatory cycles. Because I am obsessed and consumed with my own fertility, I just have to know if I am really ovulating. What are the chances that I would get Mittelschmerz and still not ovulate??? :-D

Sounds like you know more about it than we do. They have Ovulation tests now. Ya know like the pregnancy tests. You can get them at the drug store or even the supermarket. Try one.

I too am in the midst of my conception journey. And I too feel the pain. In fact, it changes sides each month. I have read two main thoughts about Mittelschmerz and its relation to conception. One said that the pain actually signifies the end of conception. Another said the opposite. I understand it to mean that the pain is the releasing of an egg from the ovary. This gives the mom-to-be little time left to conceive as the egg travels down the Fallopian tube. In and of itself, then, the pain does rather signify the end of the conception period in that once the egg is done travelling, the peak conception period ends. We have focused our attentions on inseminating before and on the day of the Mittelschmerz as the newest plan. We will see in two weeks if the plan works. My favorite helper thus far has been the ovulation monitor. A little expensive, but well worth it, taking most of the guesswork (and thus anxiety) out of the picture. Good luck to you.

I always have mittelschmerz in conjunction with eggwhite cm (I'm sure you check that too!) so I think it's a good indicator. I think the change in CM is the best indication of ovulation, at least it has been for me. Good luck!

My wife did. She would get three cramps then nothing and it came about day 14 after the start of her last period. That by the way is the medical text book way of determining fertility. it is not full proof but it is very very close.

Beginning with day one of your period, count 14 days from that time. Have intercourse during the week of the 14th day. Some people say every other day. Some say ever day. His sperm count will decrease the more sex you have.

After having sex, lie flat on your back and raise your bottom up about 45 degrees from the bed. This assists the sperm cells in getting down to the egg.

Also increase your intake of folic acid. This helps egg production.

Good luck and God bless.

Thanks for clarifying what Mittelschmerz was....... I was beginning to think he was your neighbor or something. The only way to tell when I am ovulating is by the changes in my cervical mucus....., the clearier the mucus ( like egg whites)..., that is your peak ovulation time... ...I don't really go by Mittleschmerz or pain....... because you can confuse that with period cramps.....
