This is how I rank the top soccer nations according to their power and prestige in the last 40 or so years: 1) Brazil 2)Italy 3)Germany 4)Argentina 5)England 6) Holland 7) France 8) Spain
This is how I rank them in World Cup 2006: 1) Italy 2)France 3)Germany 4) Argentina 5) Brazil 6) Portugal 7) England 8) Netherlands

Well we all know World Cups and any match for that matter are not decided or won on rankings. Teams go out and compete and the best team on the day comes away with the victory, not necessarily the highest ranked team. The system takes into account previous years also, so in that sense it is a little flawed. Perhaps if the rankings were only to consider the past two years results it may reflect things more accurately, but it will never be perfect.

Mexico should not be in the top 15 teams and I do disagree with the fifa rankings because when Mexico was in the 4 that doesn't mean that they were better than ITALY or France or even Germany . USA is a good team and that was just a bad world cup for them. The rankins sucks because they are saying that they are better than others when they are not.

Ghana should have gotten a better ranking because they did very well even-though it was clear the referee cheated to make the Brazilians win.

I think they're a lot more accurate than the old rankings. Mexico and the USA dropped because they're in a "weaker" zone, aka CONCACAF, though I agree about the USA, they should be much lower.

i asked that question earlier...im not terribly happy with the rankings cause brasil didnt win and yet theyre still number 1. but im glad certain teams jumped up and certain teams like the united states is not longer in the top ten.
everyone is gonna agree with any ranking no matter how its worked out.

i don't cos Brasil still ranks# 1 and as far as USA is concerned, they shouldn't be even in the ranking system. its a shame to the Footballing world to have a country like USA playing in the world cups.
