What even made them think of it? How many kids now would go "let's sing Imagine by John Lennon because I am a great big fan on the Beatles even though I'm only 8". To be fair it does have the lyrics "Imagine there's no heaven" . Church schools don't like that sort of thing. It shakes the delicate stranglehold they have on the kids faith.

I think that they should be allowed to sing anything they want.
"Imagine" could be called atheist but even so it could be used in religious studies classes for discussion purposes. Surely the whole thing about religion is that it is only a belief & healthy discussion as to the yes or no is a good thing.
If some of the anti religion things we have witnessed in the last 2006 years have not stopped us believing then I am sure it will take more than John Lennon's excellent song to do it.
Incidentally, although it doesn't sound like it from my answer I am not a believer.

i might propose going. there'll be making a music, some bulletins. based on the Church they'd take in an offering, or have offering packing boxes in distinctive places for their participants to drop they contributions. there's a particular music via the choir, a soloist or a small team. there'll be a sermon, then an invite, a remaining music and the dismissal.

It has no religious significance so I think that's fair enough. Same as I couldn't have any religious music at my Register Office wedding. So what?
