Ahh dont worry about it darling. I was there two years ago - & i promise that you werent even as half as nervous as I was. The first day is pretty standard (reading of the rules, tours, getting to know each other activities) My advice is to just be yourself because who you are now reflects how people see you later. Just have fun & no matter what DO YOUR HOMEWORK. that is your grade right there... you can fail all the tests and still get a B in class if you just do your homework well and on time. Also, i dont know how your school is, but at my school (even in 6th grade) there was a lot of drama. DONT GET INVOLVED WITH DRAMA. lol. Anyways, it will be fun and live it up to the fullest! Good luck!

Honestly, I really don't remember very much about it. I think I was somewhat nervous, but nothing really serious. Since "middle school" for me was the same school as my elementary school (the entire school was grades 1-8) I knew almost all of the people in my class so there was nothing to really be nervous about. If you're starting a new school for middle school, then that would obviously be different (but your question doesn't say).
Anyway, just try to relax. If you don't know too many people, try to make some new friends, but don't feel pressured into the thought of having to make 10 new friends the first day or anything. Just talk to as many people as you feel like and get comfortable with most of the people in your class and you'll be fine.
In terms of actual school work and academics, it'll be a change from your previous grades, but it's nothing too drastic. You'll have more subjects and teachers but you'll get used to that after a while and it'll be ok. The change you'll experience once you start high school will be much greater (teachers are generally much more strict about what kind of stuff they accept and the work is much harder), but you won't have to worry about that for several years, so just enjoy your time in middle school while you can!

I had a hard time sleeping the night before. Maybe a lot of students have trouble that way. This was about 25 years ago. I remember thinking the day took a long time, and it was weird to get adjusted to changing to a different classroom almost every hour. Remember other students will be nervous, too, and you can make friends easier just by being willing to smile and compliment people.

I'm sure you're really nervous, but let me put this into perspective for you. I am 31 years old. I don't even remember my first day of middle school. It must have been pretty uneventful. You have nothing to be afraid of. Just be confident in yourself. Be outgoing and meet some new people. Remember that everyone else is just as nervous as you & trying to act cool. Just be careful not to hang around anyone who is going to drag you down.

The first few months of middle school can be like culture shock, affecting you socially and, eventually, academically. I feel the most important piece of advice I give my students moving on to middle school is to choose your new friends VERY CAREFULLY. Good kids will bring you up and troubled kids will only bring you down. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people and you should be fine.
(of course, do you schoolwork!)

I was teased by the guys because I was the only girl in the school that had blonde, blonde hair and blue eyes. I grew up in a spanish neighborhood and I stuck out like a sore thumb.
