It seems to me that the simplest would be to read the birth certificate, but what do *I* know?

I am assuming that you and the mother of the child are not married...because if you were, you would already know this.

If you are not a legal guardian of this child, you have no legal rights to view the birth certification, a copy of which will be filed with the County Clerk within the county where the child was born.

You have two options.

1. Contact an attorney and sue for parental rights. You will find out really quickly what the birth certificate says. Or

2. You could contact the mother of the child and ask her directly.

Good luck to you.

Go to the County Court House where the baby was born and request a copy of the birth certificate. It may take a few days to weeks, also a fee may be involved. I don't think more than $15.00 or so. Good Luck!

if you are the father and are NOT married to the mom you would have had to fill out an affadavit of paternity and have it notarized by the hospital. If you are married there is no paper work to fill out. The baby would have taken the moms last name. But I am assuming you are NOT married to the mom and in which case someone else or no father is on the certificate.

If you weren't there, he probably doesn't. You can ask the baby's other parent for a copy.
