I'm 38 and 10 years ago the DR. told me that estrogen or progestrogen should help, BUT, if one smokes cigarettes it would be more harmful that good. I have SUFFERED for so many years and Im sick of it. Ibuprofen BARELY helps and I miss alot of work because of it.

That is a normal response to pre-menstrual cycle. Midol may help relieve the discomfort.

I use to have really sore breasts like that also. Im guessing you smoke and don't want to use the pills, which is probably best, and unfortunatly Ibuprofen doesn't really help that much, there isn't that much that can be done, change of diet, extra vitamins the weeks before. make sure you don't eat to much salt, because water retention will hurt them more. Also caffine will increase this pain drasticaly, if your anything like me and a coffee addict, you may want to limit the amount you take just till your period arrives.

Some women do. I use to once in awhile, but it has subsided. I don't know about the estrogen and progestrogen link. Do you drink lots of coffee and have you had a mammogram?

Yes, i do, not every month but very frequently. I have a couple of friends who stopped that by going on the pill. You should try it, if you've never had. And no, you shouldn't smoke if you go on the pill.
I know how horrible it is. I'm sorry you are going through that too.

I have the same problem sometimes before my monthly, Aleve helps more than anything for me that is. I have been smoking for 34, almost 35 years now and it does do anything, that I have found.
