I am assuming we are talking about a computer file.
There should be some sort of preference on your recording device, such as bit rate etc.
There should also be what type of file or recoding format, mp3, wmp, or wav, you then would set your preference to wav file, and all you recordings after that would be wav files. You probably will have to re-record any files you currently have to convert them to wav files, but I believe this would solve your dilemma.

Yea. Download one of the programs form this list and go from there. IN most applications, all you have to do is start up the program, open or import the desired song. Then convert or export the song as a (in this case) a .WAV file.

You can use sound recorder while playing the mp3 or wmp file, record it from sound recorder then save it and it will be a WAV file.
