Depends if it's in the same "arena" of sport. Like a swimmer can enter many swimming events, a track and fielder can enter a bunch of track and field events. But a hockey player can't also be a figure skater, or a soccer player can't also be a swimmer.

But people like Micheal Phelps swam 8 events!

Sure, if you're good enough to qualify in more than one event. There are several members on the US track team that run in several events. For example, Justin Gatlin runs in the 100m, 200m, and the 400m relay.

I believe Willie Gault ran on a 4x100 relay team (summer)
and was on a 4-man Bobsled team (winter)

yes.you can be in a few swim races. or in a few track and field events. depends on how athletic you are.
