A national identity, our own national St George's flag is not racist
who planted that seed!
I am half Maltese and I am proud of the St George flag & The Maltese flag which show's the George Cross so valiently won during WWII. Does it offend the Germans or Italians when they are in Malta.
In the USA I have seen flags bigger than houses on display, belonging to every creed & colour, because they are proud of it's symbolism.
There is even a stars & stripes on the largest single spaced building on earth, the Space Shuttle building at NASA.
How much more can UK citizens take with regard to losing our Englishness.
If this is such a good country for every nationality on earth who wants to live here, then they should repect the emblem of this country. We are a very tolerant people, we would never force someone to take down a flag from their homeland, so why should the symbol of this national be banned. Get real!!!!!

It was always known as the Union Jack then I went to live abroad and when I came back the red cross on the white background was everywhere. I thought "Whats this strange flag" and then realised it was the same flag they used during the Crusades.I loved the Union Jack with all my heart. Whats all this stupid nonsense of political correctness . I believe in calling a spade a spade. It's the English flag and if others dont like it they can go back to where they originally came from. Other countries fly their own flag so why cant the English AND DONT SAY iM racist because Im not English...only British!!!

Its our country, if people don't like our culture then they can f**k off to a country that they do like..and take the bleeding heart liberals and do-gooders with them.
PS. It's the Union flag when its flown on land and the Union jack when its flown on the sea.
Can you believe we have stopped celebrating Christmas in some schools because it might upset kids from other religions,
I have never been racist but I'm now becoming more and more annoyed at this PC bullsh*t.

I'm not 'patriotic' - in the way that others 'claim to be' patriotic.
I don't like beer, nor lager, I don't care for football or cricket or any 'national sport,' nor do I like the mob mentality exhibited in the name of 'patriotism.' The 'bad' or anti-social behaviour has me wanting to distance myself from it.
I see little or no difference from 'our' (bad so-called) patriotic behaviours and that of others who claim their 'righteousness' as a result of a religious dogma.
It's an……
'I'm right, and right is might and therefore I'm BETTER than you / them' mentality.
In '76 (the Bi-Centennial US year) I flew back from the States and I got to hear the John Wayne recording of 'Why I'm proud to be an American' on the planes entertainment system(!) It was all gung-ho, kick-*** n take no prisoners and good ol' Mom's Apple Pie stuff. It was nauseating.
Next was recording by an American writer whose name I have forgotten, and the difference was 'the sentiment - without the sentimentality.' It was moving - without moving the contents of my stomach.
What Interests me, re PC is, 'If I went abroad to a none European country, then would I be granted the same rights and freedoms as others claim when they arrive and settle here, as a way of integration. Could I build my own or attend a Christian Church?'
:If I go abroad, am I stupid to not take into account that peoples I walk among may not bear some animosity to someone who is English?
:Am I stupid to not think that there may be some who want to take out on me something that my great-great Grandfathers generation did?
This may not answer the original question, but it gives me the chance to voice a few things that pertain to it.

Why is it racist to fly our own flag??
We are a race of people who are proud of the Union flag therefore we should be allowed to fly it..
Anyone know where to buy one??
I don't think it's racist. There are too many narrow minded people in this country. It's Political Correctness gone barking mad. I think the PC brigade should go and stuff itself somewhere unprintable!!!

It's called the Union Flag. Not the Union Jack. It's only called the Union Jack if flown on a sea-faring vessel.
If you were patriotic you'd have known that ;-)
