Apparrently residents of Yakima Valley, WA are upset that Mexicans are affecting the learning abilities of the "Americans" because, they don't speak good English. Wow, since when is learning another language a stumbling block to learning in general? Then you have the people who own farms , who also happen to rely on the labor, saying that the agriculture industry in the area would severely suffer if all the workers were deported. I wonder if people think about this stuff before opening their mouths?

The only ones to be deported will be illegal aliens who are caught by the INS. This is far from the majority. If the government uses its head they will fine employers to the point that they will no longer want to employee illegal aliens. At that point, unable to find work they will go home on their own.

A program will have to be developed so that aliens can be brought into the United States legally to do work here. Under such a program they will no longer be taken advantage of by being paid low wages and no benefits. This will also make these jobs more attractive to some Americans.

The practice of automatically giving citizenship to the new born of illegal aliens will have to be ended. This was never the intent of the amendment and laws underlying this practice.

Students in schools will have to learn English prior to entering regular classes. This will make all students on a more equal foundation and reduce walls between them.

It might severely suffer short term, but that isn't at all relevant. They used the same line of reasoning to fight minimum wage(I don't agree with the minimum wage, but for other reasons). If you don't enforce the law because people don't like it, what good is it?

Also, over the long haul, it will benefit the agriculture industry to remove cheap labor. It will encourage more automation and mechanization of those industries. To this point, the cost of labor has precluded the investments in efficiency.

Thirdly, employers who hire illegal labor shouldn't get a free ride. They are paying less than what the market is for legal labor. That isn't fair.
