No, you're not supposed to tilt your head back.
Because then you'll swallow the blood and choke on it.
Ew.

Do not hold your head back, that is actually bad for you. The blood flows to your brain or down to the back of your throat, not good. What you should do is get some soft tissues and pinch your nose right below the bone. Hold that position for about 5 minutes or so, depending on how serious it is. Then, have someone, or you could do it yourself with one available hand and get a cold towel or moist napkin and hold it on your forehead. If it is from heat, putting something cold on your cheeks help as well. If possible, drink water.

Actually the only reason to hold your head back when you have a nose bleed is to keep the blood from dripping down your face. I have heard from a doctor that you should pinch the bridge of your nose to try to stop the bleeding.

You're actually supposed to lean forward and put light pressure on the bridge of your nose. If you lean your head back the blood won't clot as quickly and will run down your throat, posing the risk of excessive blood content in your stomach.

You should not hold your head back because the blood then goes
in to the stomach. This can make you sick. Try putting your finger under your top lip and apply pressure upward against the bottom of your nose. This is what i was tough in EMT school.

if you hold your head back the blood will drain into your stomache and can cause you to vomit then of course your nose will bleed again. pinch the upper part of your nose tight to stop the blood enough to stop the blood pressure it will stop just after a few seconds, it is the same as a cut on your arm, you hold it and it stops bleeding.

There are lots of diffrent tecnecs. The one i have seen work most is to lie down and hold your nose, or tilt your head back whilr holding nose. Some people even stuff tissue up their nose.

It's undecided. Just be sure to apply pressure to your nose to try to stop the bleeding. I have found leaning forward to seem to work better, though.
It's not going to hurt for the blood to run down your throat. It will not go to your lungs - that is what the epiglotis is for. It doesn't matter how much blood you have in your stomach.

Absolutely not. there is a good chance you will suffocate. Instead what I do is rip off a piece of tissue and put it up my nose just enough to be able to pull it out once it gets soggy. That way it will absorb the blood so that it can heal.

Apply pressure to the bridge of your nose and let cold tap water
run over the underside of both wrists. This will not only help con-
trol the bleeding it will amazingl cool you down. Try it.

No. Swallowing all that blood will make you vomit. Hold your head forward & pinch the bridge of your nose.
