I think it was such a major tragedy that whether it was planned by the government or not is mostly irrelevant to the aftermath and suffering. I think it will be relevant in the future when things really are better for those who suffered the losses. As of now, the wounds are probably too fresh. I still remember that day like it was yesterday and I'm not even on the eastern coast.

I do think that terrorists were responsible and that the US gov was probably negligent enough not to escape total responsibility. An excuse for war? Since when does anyone need an EXCUSE for war? LOL

Just like Pearl Harbour. Our economy sucked. Why we attacked Iraq not sure. Osama was not there as far as anyone knows. Sonny wanted to do what daddy Shrub couldn't about getting Saddam and used 9/11 as an excuse. What did Iraq have to do with 9/11? Nothing. It was an horrific day in American history. With things heating up overseas we may not have a lot to think about soon. I feel for the families of 9/11 that our country would make victims of it's own people. That's why this great nation will be on it's knees soon. My son is in Iraq. I'm not a crackpot.

I don't think our government would be capable of something like that.

1) I don't think they are evil

2) it's possible they weren't intelligent enough (as aweful as it was...it was well planned)

3) The media is really good at finding out when the government hides stuff

4) they couldn't have covered their tracks so well

So no, I don't think the government planned it. That's a really odd thing to say. If they wanted to just go to war they could have made up a lot of excuses...which is pretty much what they did. They didn't need sept. 11th

Tragic.

there are some conspiracy theories out there that suggest the government had involvement, being that the Bush family would be a great benefactor of war, as would the Bin Laden family. ($$$$$ wise.)

There was also that little flash presentation someoone made of the "phantom" plane that hit the Pentagon, claiming it was an inside job.

But I don't think so. Bin Laden claimed responsibility. If there was a conspiracy, then A LOT of people would have to have kept their mouths shut. I doubt that could happen with so many levels of government, intelligence agencies, airport security (or lack thereof), etc.

As for your claim that it was PLANNED to go to war, I think it's the opposite. While the Project for the New American Century (conservative think tank/lobbying group) WANTED to go into Iraq before 2000, they merely used 9/11 as an excuse to go to war. Don't think they planned 9/11.

Conspiracy theories are ridiculous and here's why...

NOBODY in the US government can keep a secret. Honestly! There are more press leaks on who slept with whom and other trivial stuff like that. Who honestly believes that government employees could keep quiet for more than a week about something as huge as the 911 attacks?

True, there are indeed cover-ups and attempted cover-ups sometimes. The majority of the time, such attempts are exposed and the press has a field-day with the news. But overall, government bureaucrats are as catty and backbiting as a nosey neighbor lady. People love to tell and talk about who-did-what in Washington.

The American people were devastated. About 3,000 died, but all 280 million of us were wounded.

We do not believe our government planned 9/11 as an excuse to go to war, either. We know we were attacked by terrorists.

The never-ending debate in our country now is over how to deal with terrorism and our country's safety without compromising our individual freedoms.

I'm from the UK and I think it was the government because of the way the buildings fell.

I still feel upset about the pictures seen on live tv that day and my heart goes out to all those involved.

What happened that day will never leave my mind. It was an atrocious thing for any human being to have done.

I would like to say what i think but must refrain, however a comment was made by a person who shall remain anonymous which she said too bad it had the be the twin towers instead of say The house of representatives in Washington D.C. Then maybe our system of phony representation could get a fresh new start! Maybe have legitimate/verifiable new voting and polling system! Something we in the USA are doing without currently.

I think it sucks that so many people died/were hurt, but I think it also sucks that people have gotten so uppity about it and gone to kill/hurt others. To me, it's honestly no different than all of the car bombs and stuff that go on every day overseas... it just happened in NYC.
