I'm suspicious about the recording. I personally think the two of them knew the mic was on and were just doing it for the headlines it would attract - there's even an episode of the West Wing in the which the fictional President Bartlett does the same so it could well be life immitating art.

Politicians use the media to get their message out. The message the two leaders were putting out was one of concern for the situation that's developing in Israel / Lebanon which could easily develop into a world war. If it means demeaning themselves a little to prevent an escalation of a crisis, then I imagine they'd do it. By downplaying the event and grabbing the headlines in a different way, they manipulated the press and made other nations aware of their intentions at a time the majority of the UN hold a view different to the US and UK.

ME! I love stuff like that! And I'm a Bush Supporter and I agree with him about that, but I still love when they get caught. Do you remember when, and I can't remember his name, they were calling out some vote at one of the reps got on the mike and said, "Barney Fa g; I mean....Can't remember that guys name, either, but boy that was funny, too!

actually, i thought it was effin hilarious when i read about it. really funny that bush actually swore, shows that hes at least human as opposed to the superman neo-cons make him out to be.
