I am not proud or ashamed of being white that just is what I am. I am proud to be an American, I am proud to be a conservative, I am proud of my children. Being white has to do with ancestry the things I mentioned all require effort. Get off the race kick and go do some good.

because as with all stereotypes, when someone says "proud to be white" it conjurs up images of swaztikas and hillbillies, I guess it all depends on how/why/when you use/say it, but it's mostly just one of those stereotypes that will always exist. The same goes for "brown and proud", "asian persuasion", and "black pride" which might lead some people to think of cholos, asian gangs, or black panthers...it's all a frame of mind and close mindedness. Then again, there's lots of ways to express your pride besides going out and proclaiming to everyone that your "WHITE & PROUD", not only does it attract unwanted attention, but can also be dangerous...for any nationality. The most common and effective method to express your pride might be through community groups and churches (not hate groups) that practice "inclusion without exclusion", meaning they also welcome people outside their nationalities and help educate communities. Other ideas are flying a flag of your country, or bumper sticker, or t-shirt....whatever. There's lots of different ways to express your pride without going overboard. But no matter what, stereotypes are an unfortunate part of our life and always will be, unfortunately, so be prepared to be stereotyped.

I don't think "Blacks" as you call them think it is racist to be proud of your heritage. Media may portray that but all in all African Americans seem to have the same dream, that was shared by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. To live in a world free of prejudice and color differentiation. It is all about your attitude. Are you proud to be white just to piss off blacks, or are you proud of your heritage because of family traditions? There are millions of factors to consider, and your generalizing could be dimmed down some.

Why should one be proud of it?

You make it sound as though being white's some kind of accomplishment.

Whatever your appearance, and whatever the circumstances -- economic or social -- of the family into which you were born, it's simply the luck of the draw, no more, no less.

Thomas Jefferson, in the Declaration of Independence, wrote that "all men are created equal."

He was WRONG; we're not equal (some people are taller, stronger, smarter, faster, born into wealth, or held to be better-looking than others), but, irrespective of what nature gave us (or didn't give us), WE'RE ALL ENTITLED TO EQUAL TREATMENT AND BASIC RIGHTS.

THAT's Democracy.

Not all black people feel that way. You are stereotyping by making the sweeping statement that all blacks feel a certain way. Do you know all black people? I doubt it, so you can't possibly know what they all think. And what do you mean by "proud to be white"? That can have any number of meanings, and not all of them are positive.

You should be proud of who you are, but even that kind of pride has its limits. Go overboard, and you enter dangerous territory.

Personally, I am not proud to be white. It's not like I did something. I was just born. I didn't make a decision to be white and have to work for it. Being proud of your "heritage" is kind of lame.

Because too often, the people who are proud to be white/black/red/yellow think that everyone ELSE is inferior just because they aren't the same color.

Me, I think all the people who are proud to be a particular color are equally idiotic.

Because the ones who do consider themselves a minority and therefore find it over-powering. It makes no sense but still, ya gotta put yourselves in their shoes. They are thinking in slavery times when the white would treat the blacks like poop. That's why they don't like to hear this. If blacks enslaved the whites, it would be another story.

Because whites are the majority, and are proud enough already.

Pride 'movements' are for the downtrodden to regain their pride. When have whites been downtrodden in this country - except in a rhetorical "they hurt my feelings calling me a racist" way?

Note that distinct ethnic groups of whites HAVE been discriminated against, but they have (or had) their own legitimate "Italian pride" and "Irish pride" movements.

i dont think its racist to be proud that youre white, its just when you believe that all whites are superior to all blacks that you start having problems with ANYBODY calling you racist. its only people who honestly believe that all white people are covered in the blood of enslaved africans from hundreds of years ago that believe that all white men are just ignorant honkeys. im white, tho, so what do i know?
