My husband and I are goinn to try for our first baby next year.

I will be 24 when I get pregnant if all goes well.

I am planning to work out a lot before I get pregnant, and then while pregnant I am planning to walk as much as I can, and exercise with pilates and yoga and light weights.

Did being in shape make a difference?

Were you not in shape? If so how did you feel?

I am hoping being in great shape will make everything go smooth.

Yes it did...I use to work out at the gym 3 times a week...the best thing that I did was crunches...I didnt get any stretch marks with any of my 3 kids and I think it helped that.

I had my first baby last year in November and I was in the best shape I had ever been in before I got pregnant. I'm 24 now, but was 23 when he was born. I would go to the gym every other day and do belly dancing every other day. I think the belly dancing really helped with my speedy delivery(20min. of pushing and he was out). Belly dancing really helps tone the muscles used to give birth. I got back into belly dancing when my son was almost 4 months old, and I'm pretty much back to my pre-pregnancy shape.
So yes, I think being in good shape and exercising helps alot!

Yes, I think that it really helped. I also breastfed my daughter for a long time and that also really helped. I excercised regularly and swam a lot. I had an easy labor and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Losing the weight was not a problem, but for me gaining was. (that's related to something different. I had Hyperemesis when I was pregnant)

Anyway bouncing back from the pregnancy was not hard.

i was in good shape before i got pregnant but it was not a easy pregnancy and recover is still hard. i lost alot of blood and have anemia almost had to have a blood transfusion. so still working to lose the rest of the weight, however definely be in your best shape possible you never no what your pregnancy will be like.

on the first one it is easy to get back in shape and tone up on my second it was harder for they were one year apart and didnt get the chance to get the other weight off from the first. so good luck.

I was never in shape but i'm skinnier now then before i had the baby...

working out will help you to get pregnant more easy and you will have a healthier baby.
