Hi,

I make wire jewellery - you need wire, beads and pliers but it may also help you to have a wire jig (it's a peg board that you use to wrap wire around to make funky shapes).

Your 9 year old could easily do it too and you'd use the wire in your card making too - you can write greetings in wire that looks really cool.

You might also both like a wire winder - with it you can make really cool jewellery in minutes (yes minutes!)

Check out my website - there's lots of free ideas & instructions you can download and you can get your equipment there too.

In loads of shops they sell kits to make jewellery - some of these are aimed at children (loads in the shops at the moment with the school holidays approaching - try WHSmiths, Woolworths etc).

Sometimes the local colleges do courses in Jewellery Making, Cards etc - which will sui you.

This can be simple or as intricate as you wish, there are many methods of making jewellery. Your daughter may enjoy setting stones into ready made settings using special jewellers cement. i made some decades ago and they have stood the test of time. My grandfather used to make things out of gold wire by twisting it into various shapes, such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings. You can buy simple settings with one large stone or a selction of mixed sized stones which you order to suit the setting.
