Absolutely disgusted.
IF YOU CARE ARE ABOUT LIFE, ....
... WHY DON'T YOU CARE ABOUT MINE ?
For all christians who wonder why they get negative comments,
this is a perfect example of a SEGMENT of the christian community, imposing it's perceptions on the rest of us.
Until government's position is one of neutrality (as opposed to pro religion), atheists have no other alternative but to speak up
with the utmost of disgust.

To St Guido ( who answered this question ) - So you think only rich people benefit from stem cell research? Not all diabetics, people with Alzheimers and Parkinsons, are rich. And don't forget, you uneducated moron, that stem cell research in the US would benefit people ALL OVER THE WORLD, even your relatives who must have raised you in a cave with no books, magazines or documentaries. What you have studied all your life can be held in one hand, maybe two, if you include the mp3 player, ipod and cell phone. Bush is too dumb to understand stem cell research ( like you ) and does not comprehend stem cell research can be done without using fetal tissue. Oh, and by the way, the abortions in this country continue regardless of Bush and his efforts to please the right wing religious terroristic fanatics. Since the abortions will continue in the USA, why not use the tissue for some positive life affriming medical/scientific research, instead of flushing down the toilet, where, guido, your brains have been languishing since you came into this world.

The religious right money machine put bush in office and he had no other choice that to veto this bill. It wouldn't have mattered if his own flesh and blood could have benefited from stem cell research. He didn't deliver on abortion, gay marriage, or the estate tax, so this was his only way to keep the cash spigot flowing and earn his keep.

YES!!! Stem cell research can do SO MUCH for the world. It can end so many diseases and make so many lives better. Why did Bush have to bring religion into the White House better? Republican views on stem cell research is one of the only things I HATE about them!

ok right here is going...Embryonic stem cells are the comparable element as stem cells taken from cord blood, or perhaps stem cells on your physique. A stem cellular is only a cellular that has no longer long previous with the aid of differentiation yet. That only potential that it is not sure what form of cellular that it is going to likely be whilst it matures. like the cellular does not understand if it is going to likely be a blood cellular or a liver cellular, etc. So, what's the version in getting stem cells from an embryo you could need to kill or getting them from cord blood? cord blood is drawn from each infant born interior the u . s . a . to attempt for affliction, why no longer combat to have what blood is left over after attempting out to be sent to study labs and not kill those embryos. GWB, and all of his faults, isn't against stem cellular study yet is against EMBRYONIC stem cellular study.

There is a lot that can be learned from stem cell research. I think he is a moron for not allowing scientists to explore that aspect of research. He believes that it will cut down on abortions, but what he doesn't realize is that people are going to have them anyway and the way they are disguarded is not the best for the environment. You're preaching to the choir on that one for the most part.

I can't say that I'm disgusted but I am disappointed. As long as women are having abortions and miscarriages there's no reason to not put it to use but I would be against taking unclaimed frozen embryos to a certain gestation and using them for stem cells. As for the gov't. not having a say in the matter...as long as they're providing funding for the research they do have that right.

The research will go on elsewhere. Unfortunate for the U.S. and really awful for the scientists, but it won't halt the research -- what disgusts me about this is the tear-jerk sentimentality of his 'snowflake children' pr. People will still be able to adopt embryos.
The legislation overturning environmental protections and civil protections is far far worse.

Disappointed that the opinions of the majority of Americans, the House, and the Senate do not matter. It's up to government of England, China, Korea, and Singapore to bail us out in the future.

He's not outlawing it there is no law against the research he is just making it so the federal government doesn't pay for it. So at least Private companies can still do research.
