Try Dashboard Confessional & Fall Out Boy. It seems to me that you'll probably like DC better, because of the music quiality and lyrics. Hope that helps!

I listen to everything too. College radio stations are the best way to broaden your horizons and find out whats outside the mostly childlike mainstream. If you're interested in a personal point of view, then read on.

If you want something "new" to add to your list, then try a genre you haven't heard yet. A genre with the best musicianship and dedication to their music (none of them ever expect to be famous when they start, and there's no way to sell out). I'm talking about jazz.

Here's my starting suggestions:
John Ellis-Roots, Leaves, and Branches
Roland Kirk-The Inflated tear
Grant Greene-Matador
Wayne Shorter-Juju

Non jazz albums (kinda)
Dead Can Dance-Into the Labyrinth
Tom Waits-Small Change
Grateful Dead-A Nightfall of Diamonds

Happy listening.

Nice collection. I'm a music fanatic myself. I know a few artists you probably never heard of. There's a really cool female rapper called "Lady Sovereign" that I recommend. She bracks away from the southern gangsta style you hate so much. She tends to merge rap with punk-rock and garage. I recommend the songs "Random", "Hoodie", "Cha Ching", and "Fiddle With The Volume" from her "Virtically Challenged" album. Another artist I love is "Utada." She's Japanese, bilingual, and sings masterful R&B tunes with a totally seductive voice. I recommend "Easy Breezy" and "Let Me Give You My Love" from her "Exodus" album. If you wanna talk more about music you can always IM me if you use Yahoo! Instant Messenger.

It sounds like you have a good mix of genres. I have basically the same taste. have you tried any Trance or deep house music? If you are into video games then try this website www.ocremix.org I would suggest trying to look into the underground scene which is huge in Cali. Good luck.

These aren't new, but if you haven't already, check out ANY Talib Kweli, Mos Def (that's where my name comes from) and Common. Gnarls Barkley has a new cd that I havent heard yet, but am dying to get. The last album from the Dixie Chicks was good too. And thanks for telling me that chivalry isn't dead- I needed that!

Definitely!

Just based on your list, I HIGHLY recommend the following:

Postal Service (electronic band made up of members of Death Cab)
Dangerdoom (great hip hop / beats)
Wax Tailor (amazing DJ, samples, beats)
Fountains of Wayne (some of the best power pop you ever heard)
The New Pornographers (just one of my all-time favorite rock bands)
Gnarls Barkley (same DJ as Dangerdoom, with Cee-Lo)
Band of Horses (amazing new rock band)
Wolf Parade (another great rock band, just came out last year)
Blackalicious (probably the most creative hip hop act out)

I'll think of more.
