A felony always looks worse on your record than a misdemeanor. Make sure your attorney or public defender insists that you plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge, and that the prosecutor in turn will drop the felony charges.
Be careful, though, and also find out how pleading guilty to a misdemeanor will affect your probation. Chances are, a probation violation may mean additional jail time. So be sure to have your attorney look into all of that and make an informed decision.
Good luck.

No because you only have to declare felonies on your job applications. If you want to work in a bank or around money theft is theft and you are screwed but generally employers can only ask about felonies. As sucky as it is i think the 10 month term would be better for you and just remember jail is not the same as prison.

The pros and cons of each option is something that your attorney is required to go over with you before you enter a plea. The judge is going to ask you specifically if you've had a chance to go over the consequences of your plea before making it. A few of the possible consequences you might want to be concerned about for a felony conviction is losing your voting rights and never being able to own a firearm. The whole subject is important to your decison making can have life-long effects, so be sure to consult with your attorney before the plea.

Pay now or pay later is your question? Do you have dependents like small children that need you now?
Being on a leash for 5 years would 'nickel and dime' me to death. If you can find something that you can concentrate on for the next 10 months, then you will benefit more in my opinion. Think of it as a chance to learn something now that will help for next year - a skill.
I assume they'll let you have books in jail. Knowledge is King.

Felony is much worse, many applications ask "If you have ever been convicted of a felony". MaNY perfectly employable people have misdemeanors.
Incidentally, if you are innocent, don't plea bargain at all. You'll regret it the rest of your life.
