I think there are a lot of people trying to make it that way. I am not a pc person, I pretty much call it like I see it, and let the chips fall where they may. We still have freedom of speech in this country. It does amuse me however that the people who scream the loudest about freedom of speech are the usually the same people that want to limit what others say using terms like hate speech or it's not politically correct. I believe that freedom comes with responsibility so I try not to offend anyone on a personal level with what I say, and I also do not tell off color jokes. This last is due more to the fact that I think they are in bad taste, and we should all practice decorum with each other when possible. The simple fact is that if you are a moral person to begin with you do not need euphemisms like politically correct because you will do the right thing by your instinct and nature.

You have insulted every single politically correct person on this website. Kidding! Yes, I agree, this world is way too politically correct. Not only that, everyone marches around waiting to be offended by some group or another. No word or phrase goes unscrutinized.

I don't think that political correctness is particularly new, and in fact it may well have been stronger in the past, in times when people were jailed or even killed for saying negative things about their governments or churches.

That being said, yes, the PC movement is completely ridiculous. It's almost as if we're legally required to have a "Support our Troops" magnet on the car, if you point out that there is no god or object to government-sponsored religion you're accused of violating someone's religious freedoms, you hardly dare point out that gender differences are largely genetic, and we're all but required to believe that everything is biased against women.

yep. and sometimes that is a good thing too. the positives are when people are labeled in a way that is harmful so there has to be a new label. for example, there was a time when mentally challenged people were labelled retards, and resulted in horrible consequences for the handicapped. it was when retards were called mentally challenged...oops i mean when the label was changed to mentally challenged that people strated looking at these people differently and treating them differently too. yes, language is that powerful, that's why political correctness came about, to stop the harms created just by labelling someone, but things have gotten out of control because PC is being used to control people....but it did start off with good intentions.

YES!!!!!!

The government now tries to legislate words so nobody will be offended. Get over it people. Let's all partake in realism. If something is true, then it's true. We can't keep trying to mold truth into a more palatable version.
