I took castor oil last night (after hours of research) and woke up this morning with contractions that were consistant and 3 to 4 min. apart. Went to the hospital being 1 cent. dilated and 75% affaced and left the same way 4 hours later even with the painful contractions. Is this false labor due to the oil and why am I not dilating??? I am 40 weeks by the way.

Go for a walk. That's the best way to induce labor.

While castor oil is used by women who want to jump start labor I wouldn't use it myself after seeing what a friend of mine went thru with it. She was about a week late for delivery. She and her midwife (also her mother-in-law) started a regimen of castor oil. Her contractions came and they seemed like they would do the trick. After over 24 hours of contractions they moved to the hospital for just in case. She was not dilating like she needed to for the amount and intensity of the contractions she had been having. After many more grueling hours of laboring she finally dilated almost to 10, but since she had been laboring so intensely for so long the baby was causing her cervix to swell. She ended up with a c-section because of the swelling. However, she was told that she probably would not have swollen if she had not had so, so many hours of intense contractions (caused by the castor oil). Looking back she thinks that even if she had not started to swell and had tried to push that she would not have had the energy to deliver him after more than a day of such intense contractions. She blames the castor oil.

The oil probably doesn't have anything to do with contractions but is probably giving your intestinal tract a major work out.You are probably having some contractions just not in full labor yet but it shouldn't be long now.GOOD luck

The baby may not be in the exact right position to keep the dialation going. Try getting on your hands and knees on your bed and lay you head all the way down (butt in the air). Do this for 20 min intervals as long as you can stand it. It should help reposition the baby.
