Now, it's been doing that for a while now. I have MSN messenger on my computer, and it won't let me delete it, as it says the "patch package" doesn't exist? Could someone PLEASE help me with this? I'm afraid my computer will crash soon.

It also says that I need to verify that the patch package exists. How?

This link will walk you through all of your options.

This could, or possibly, could not fix your shutting down problem though. If this doesn't fix that problem go here for other options.

Hope this helps you out!

As all others have said,
overheating can cause random shut down. Be sure your computer has 'plenty' of open space around it for air circulation. If you are using a laptop, sit it on some hard surface to use; do not hold it on your lap - it will overheat.
If you have not done so already, run a 'full and complete' spyware and virus scan then do a complete DeFrag. Shut down your computer - wait about 3 minutes then reboot. Let all programs fully load and do not click on anything for a couple of minutes after everything has loaded.
As far as MSN Messenger, you may have to click Start / Run / (type in) Regedit and do a search for all entries for MSN Messenger deleting each one. BE SURE TO DO A COMPLETE BACK UP OF YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE DOING THIS. {any error in the registry can render your computer Totally UnUseable)To do a registry back up, click Start / Run / (type in) scanreg /w
If after doing all the above and your computer still shuts down just whenever it wants then I would suspect your power supply is starting to fail and will eventually 'die' not letting you start or do anything with your computer. Good Luck.

Computering shuting down randomly?
Your computer is over heating some area. Make sure everything is connected correctly and all your Fans are working. One time my CPU head sink was not covering about 1mm of the CPU and the CPU overheated.

Or go into your bios and increase the temperture warning for your motherboard. Over 80 C is bad.

Did you remove MSN Messenger from the Windows Components Wizard?

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components. Deselect MSN Messenger and click the Next button.

Or disable it from Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Right Click on Messenger, then Properties.
Change Startup Type to "Disable".

Hey there, had that happen to me on an old computer of mine, ended up having to buy a new one. You may just be totally out of memory which is why it is shutting down. Good luck!

I had the same problem once: it must be either your power supply or one of the ventilators inside the computer that break down, overheat the computer and cause it to shut down.

I would guess that the random shutdowns have nothing to do with MSN. I think your system is overheating as it is fairly common this time of year.
