They are lost and need guidance of others to make sure their own choices are acceptable. Its also a sort of being accepted, people communicating with them on a somewhat personal level.

A lot of them aren't so much questions as statements veiled as questions. Ten paragraphs of their insight followed by a four word question, sometimes with ten links of 100 pages that you have to read first before answering.
