Do you think it may be yogi berra?

Gotta go with Yogi. Yes, he sure didn't look like an athlete, and his fame for malapropisms has probably skewed the public's image of him as a player, but he consistently played at a superior level year after year after year. He wasn't prone to off seasons like every catcher is. He had tremendous baseball smarts and instincts. He won 3 MVP's and finished high in the voting several other times. He was a major reason the Yankees dominated during the 1950's. Bench is very close and could reasonably be considered number one.
Piazza is the greatest hitting catcher of all-time, but his average defensive skills at this critical position drop him from the top spot.
If Josh Gibson was given the opportunity to have an MLB career he could very well have snagged the top spot. Unfortunately, that injustice can never be righted.

Yogi Berra, yes in my opinion is second in the race for who is the best pitcher ever. Here's my chart.
1.) Johnny Bench (???)
2.) Yogi Berra (NYY)
3.) Ivan Rodriguez** (DET)
4.) Jorge Posada** (NYY)
5.) Mike Piazza** (NYM)

Yogi was good but Bill Dickey was better. Dickey played for the Yankees between 1928 and 1946. His career batting average was .313 with OBP of .380 202 HRs and 1209 RBI's. The interesting thing was that his lifetime fielding percentage was .988 near perfect for a catcher.

Johnny Bench or Josh Gibson.
Everyone else pales in comparison to those guys. Bench's numbers were amazing, especially given the fact that he played during a decade when only one player was able to 50 homers in a season, not the home run friendly era we're in now.
Josh Gibson was a monster, and he probably would be somewhere near the top of the all-time home run list if not for the color of his skin. He was likely better than Bench, at least if any reports of his skills are to be believed.

Johnny Bench was a great catcher as was Gary Carter, not to mention my all time favorite Tony Pena!! Currently I like Pudge, Varitek and Barrett!! I love the Cubs and Red Sox
