Usually only people with less than a 4.0 attend motivational speakers.... so what's more motivating to underachievers than telling them that their grades in the past won't matter!

I would be willing to bet that the speaker had considerably less than a 4.0 GPA. :o)

There are no hard and fast rules about who to hire. That's why we have the interview process.

Be proud of your good grades. If you don't have any work experience (which is more of what I'm looking for in a resume), then go ahead and mention it. It shows dedication and hard work in most cases.

Don't pay any attention to motivational speakers. That's their job: to motivate, not to educate. The implication is probably that someone with a 4.0 spent so much time on school that they never learned any "real life" things. Which, of course, is absurd.

Don't worry about it. Put that 4.0 on there, and let your competance speak for itself.

Someone (Employment agency associate) once told me to keep my 4.0 GPA off my resume because it can be intimidating to others. If you are called for an interview, the interviewer may think you are over qualified because of the 4.0.

THere's an assumptiont hat people who have the time to earn a 4.0 have limited social skills/ common sense.

It depends on what kind of job you're applying for. If it's something strictly technical (engineering, medicine, programming, etc.) slap it on your resume.

If you're concerned, list higest honors and other awards.

did they have a good reason? Sounds like a pretty lousy motivational speaker. Since you've worked hard, be proud of your accomplishments and show themm off on your resume.

Keep it on there, but don't make the focus. If all you can say for yourself is you have a 4.0, you will look like an egghead. Emphaisize EVERYTHING you learned.

Probably because of the old saying that's about people being book smart but lacking in common sense.

Because they spent so much time studying the though is that they have not learned enough social skills. Emphasize any volunteer or club or civic activity.

no, keep it on there, the speaker probably only had a 2.0 and was trying to look better.
