while I agree with the "original' point like most other people have said , oprah winfry, bill cosby ,etc have also said the same thing which I also agree with . BUT, in protesting how "black" people must overcome the past and stop blaming "white' society . how can you then turn around and be a bigot by hating and blaming the jewish religion? I do not remember there being a whole lot of jews in africa? the jews did not sell blacks into slavery? and what is this so called"jew" media? is there a buddist media and a christian media? how about that hindu media they are real liars!
my point is how can you say "lets get over this racisim " and then be a bigot and preach hatred toward another religion?
what religion are you? and further more religion has no color! you can be a white jew a yellow jew or a black jew.

Where do I begin?

YES -we need to stop blaming others for our own problems, but these problems were initiated by whites in this country, and that should be acknowledged.

NO- you have no idea what kinda lives blacks were living in native Africa. Neither do you know how advanced these countries would be without the intervention of european cultures.

NO -I'm not gonna dignify the Jewish question, as that seems to be your own issue. Except to say that a slave owner is a slave owner, no matter what the race!

YES- You seem pretty "tomish" to me , because you are ignorant of those who came before you and suffered indignities at the hands of whites, and some are still dealing with it today.

Don't forget this country was built on your grandmother's back. And this whole IGM (I got mine) mentality has always been a sore point for me...

Firstly...u need to note that those who are sitting around complaining are those who's lives are unsuccessful and stagnant. However is a fact that there are still lingering issues that effect our success as a race. Whites cannot be blamed for most things, for I firmly believe that I determine my own success. How could you sit here and say that the Africans would have done way worse than the whites have? How do you know that? You have absolutely no compassion for your race and mite as well call yourself a racist. You have a lot to learn and I am curious to know what type of research you have done. Racism is still lurking in society. Not sure what bubble you live in.

How did you know your ancestors had a better life in America as slaves than in Africa? Whatever. Do you think getting lynched, raped, sold, and beating is a great life? An no I do not blame white people in the 21 century for slavery.

oh no.... you would be black.

your question... makes me want to vomit. your screen name... is offensive. and as far as being brainwashed by jewish media, i think you might want to examine whatever self-hating propaganda you've been shoveled. i think i said something like what you did once, i think i was about, hmmm.... 8. and to address why others don't think like this, i don't even know how to dignify that. i think it's a blessing that this is far and few in between. and what's with all the details? if you were so sure that you made (any sort of) sense, why do you need to keep clarifying? and BTW, it's not a black and white issue (no pun intended). it isn't a mutually exclusive issue of love and hate. but i guess i should never expect that kind of intellectual sophistication. you're actually calling people names?!?! i would stop taking you seriously there! you are special indeed.

Sorry I'm white but I must chime in. You are wrong. Rapes and murders and lynchings WERE common things. As was decimation in the 50 and 60's. How about dogs and water hoses set on people? So yea I'd be pissed too. And how did they have better lives being SLAVES? I mean one minute you're free and the next you being whipped and forced to work in the fields. And what the woman had to endure was even worse. Dude read ROOTS sometime. I mean if I've read you should have too.
Ever seen the BOONDOCKS? You remind me of Uncle Rufus lol.

Slavery in America

The earliest African arrivals were viewed in the same way as indentured servants from Europe. This similarity did not long continue. By the latter half of the 17th century, clear differences existed in the treatment of black and white servants. A 1662 Virginia law assumed Africans would remain servants for life, and a 1667 act declared that "Baptisme doth not alter the condition of the person as to his bondage or freedome." By 1740 the SLAVERY system in colonial America was fully developed. A Virginia law in that year declared slaves to be "chattel personal in the hands of their owners and possessors for all intents, construction, and purpose whatsoever."

The principle by which persons of African ancestry were considered the personal property of others prevailed in North America for more than two-thirds of the three and a half centuries since the first Africans arrived there. Its influences increased even though the English colonies won independence and articulated national ideals directly in opposition to slavery. In spite of numerous ideological conflicts, however, the slavery system was maintained in the United States until 1865, and widespread antiblack attitudes nurtured by slavery continued thereafter.

Prior to the American Revolution, slavery existed in all the colonies. The ideals of the Revolution and the limited profitability of slavery in the North resulted in its abandonment in northern states during the last quarter of the 18th century. At the same time the strength of slavery increased in the South, with the continuing demand for cheap labor by the tobacco growers and cotton farmers of the Southern states. By 1850, 92 percent of all American blacks were concentrated in the South, and of this group approximately 95 percent were slaves.

Life on the plantations was hard, and no consideration was given to the cultural traditions of blacks. In the slave market men were separated from their wives, and frequently children were taken from their mothers. Family and tribal links were thus almost immediately cut. Fifty percent of the slaves were owned by 10 percent of the 385,000 slave owners. This concentration within a limited number of agricultural units had important consequences for the lives of most blacks.

Under the plantation system gang labor was the typical form of employment. Overseers were harsh as a matter of general practice, and brutality was common. Punishment was meted out at the absolute discretion of the owner or the owner's agent. Slaves could own no property unless sanctioned by a slave master, and rape of a female slave was not considered a crime except as it represented trespassing on another's property. Slaves could not present evidence in court against whites. Housing, food, and clothing were of poor quality and seldom exceeded what was considered minimally necessary to maintain the desired level of work. Owners reinforced submissive behavior not so much by positive rewards as by severe punishment of those who did not conform. In most of the South it was illegal to teach a black to read or write.

Calm down....take a deep breathe....go back to the library and get more diverse books written by various authors on the subjects of ......Africa, slavery, America, Jews, African-Americans, the slave-trade, the financial structure of the South during this time, politics, and especially hatred. You definitely need to educate yourself a bit more on these subjects. One more thing....let it go!!!!
