I have been diagnosed with Panic Attack disorder and suffer frequently from them. I am currently taking ativan (during an attack..it stops it immeadiately) and I am also taking Clonozapam.

I know that it is a scary feeling, what i have done is cut caffine out of my diet because when i drink it, the flight or fight system takes over and then i freak out,

I cant help you not have them but I can offer tips to you:

Stay away from Caffine
Try to relax if having one, get a paper bag and breathe to control your breathing. so your not hyperventaliating as well as try to drink a cold glass of water.
Also be sure to take your pulse when your having one, that way you can moniter how bad is it and you will know when your ok.. remember that your not having a heart attack; its just anxiety, try working out .. if you need some support get ahold of me and I will give you my email address that i currently use and that way you have a support system

I know how dreadful this can be, I suffered this 'fate for many years; had medication the whole nine yards. Someone I got to know had also been restricted with this affliction of 'panic attacks and palpitations, sweating etc and suggested I obtained the now old style records of the Australian doctor, DR. Claire Weeks. Now I had tried everything and with a faint heart managed to get hold of the set. I can tell you without a hint of a fib, after repeatedly listening to her wise and kind words of expert advice my 20 years of misery came to a glorifying end and I can go anywhere and meet anyone, enter lifts and fly on planes. I'm 62 now and those 20 years of panic attacks robed me of a perfect life so now I'm on 'catch-up'. Hope this helps if only to let you know your certainly not alone and definitely not a 'freak' Good Luck, davy r 62

First thing to do when panic attack comes on is breathe deeply for about 2 mins and try and think about your favourite thing.... your beautiful kids faces as an example..
Try and avoid imsiliar situations, Is there some particular that triggers them ?

You can also breathe into a brown paper bag as the reason for the sensation is that you need more oxygen.

The other thing to do is go to the Doctors as this is a very common complaint and he will put you on some medication for a few months which will help to calm you down..

Hope this helps

I know what its like to suffer from anxiety, it almost stopped me from being able to leave the house until i took control and went to see my doctor! She put me on Citolopram which works well, and i also had to have therapy session weekly. They worked FANTASTICLY and once we'd gotten to the root of the the cause then it was easier to stop the onset of the anxiety! Youve got to understand that youre in a viscious circle all the time with anxiety, and ur constantly filling your mind with questions etc that can bring the anxiety on. Until you can condition your mind to stop that onset, and change it to a positive statement rather than question, then your gunna be stuck in that circle! Some days i still feel my anxiety comin on but instead of saying to myself "i cant, i wont, what if........." i just say " so what, get on with it,nothings gunna happen" it really does make it easier!
If u wanna talk feel free to email me :-)
Chin up chick, u aint alone

Try to see into your self what is the reason of that felling, because you are a single mother you may feel alone, and insecure about you and your chidren, if you have a job you might be discharging all your passion in it, but if not try to find an activity to do. Our lives main pillars are love - family, friends, relatives, lovers- and work -profession, job, social service, house duties-, try to find the balance. Believe me this is a great opportunity for growing up, so many people will help you, you are not alone, you will see; also if you believe in God, you might read Ecclesiastes in the holly Bible, that talks about the time of our lives, and the reason of human life. I am single mother and i can understand what you are going through, but praying is faith and when you have faith so many things change in your life, because God wants the best for Us, and you are his child, and loves you so much. contact me whenever you want, or i invite you to see me in Mexico, we can go for holidays, and if you want i can introduce you to a Mexican boy!!! Good Luck

I had an Indian doctor tell me this one time- take 3 aspirin with a whole cup of milk and think about your breathing rhythm for 5 minutes. I swear you will feel so much calmer! It won't hurt to try. Good Luck, anxiety is a hard thing to tackle.

Talk to your doctor about a general anxiety medicine such as Paxil. There is a generic of it so you can get it cheaper if you need to. It works very well, and stops the body from having panic attacks.

Go to the docs they can help. you can try hypnosis this can give you good relaxation techniques that help.

One possible technique that I know of is to think of the best thought that you have, each time you think of it touch a part of your body (careful now ;-) ) I use to use my watch strap and after a bit of time that can be the focus point of happiness or confidence every time you start to feel stressed just reach for this point and it may help you get things back on track.
