Yes they are Aryan and they are Indo-European not Arabs, who are Semetic. The Indo-European migration that gave birth to groups like celts, germans, italians and slavs came from either Turkey or Ukraine (though now Ukraine is seen as more likely). It also sent groups travelling East as well as West. These people became Iranians and Indians (hence "Indo-"). Not all indians are Indo-European though. There were people in India before then.

Aryans, historically speaking, were people who lived in the region that included Iran and as far south as the Indian subcontinent.

The word, Aryan, when used in context of white race, is actually a misnomer, based on the belief that the "pure" Aryans originated from the nordic and germanic region which has since been proven incorrect.

The same type of mix-up exists with the term "Caucasian".

No they are not "arian" they are persian. But that means nothing, they look arabian, talk arabian, believe in arabian religion, and act arabian. The word persian is really meaningless when you consider there is really no difference bettween the persians and the arabs. A different name, a different culture, but the same everything else.

Yes I did already know that MOST Iranians are not arab and that THE MAJORITY of Iranians identify as 'Aryan'.

There are however many 'races' in Iran, inlcuding Arabs.

that´s right Iranian people are called to all people from Iran, Arabs are from Saudi Arabia, or United Arab Emirates, just as spanish are from Spain, mexicans are from Mexico, boricuas from Puerto Rico, Argentinians from Argentina and americans are from the US. I don´t know why people tend to generalize on their origin.
