I'm originally from Nova Scotia, and am thinking about moving to Montreal, Québec for a while during my year off before law school... I really love the city. My boyfriend, however, doesn't speak French. Would it be very difficult for him to find work if he came with me? His French would obviously show a marked improvement once he'd been there for a while, and I know there is more English in Montreal than in Québec city. Any advice? Merci d'avance!

Anglo-Montrealer here...

It might be difficult for your boyfriend to find work, not because of prejudice, but because it is the working language of the city, and any employer would require someone to be functionally fluent to just get by.

If he concentrated his search in or around McGill or Concordia's campuses, he might have more luck, or in a neighbourhood like Westmount or NDG where there are more anglos than other languages...

Well it all depends on what type of Job.
Obviously, he cannot work with the public, The Government will not employ him. Can he work from home?
