Their are actually several types of background checks that can be done and its usually to the desecration of the officer how much he wants to find out, if he wants an extensive he will ask dispatch for , SOS (Information on your car), NCIC (this is your criminal history), Leads (this is you drivers license info), they also check for sex offender registration.
