Does makeup really make you feel pretty?

I always found it kind of a mystery on my women are so obsessed with wearing makeup. I would often see girls who literely looked like clowns because they had so much makeupon their face. I honestly think women look so much more attractive when they don't wear makeup. I understand that women like to feel self-confident about themselves, but does hiding your true looks really make you feel pretty?

I also want to add that it seems like soooo much time is put into makeup. Some wake up 2 hours early to put on makeup.

I can imagine a beauty complement without makeup would be so much more satisfactory than a beauty comlement with makeup.

I suppose make up kind of acts as a security blanket. I pretty much only wear eyeliner and lip balm on a daily basis, but I feel a little 'naked' without that (plus I'm like a total lip balm addict... but thats a whole different story). I could go without my make up (and I am right now) but its like wearing pretty underwear, or knowing you look good. It's a little confidence boost. I don't agree that women should be wearing 3lbs of foundation and trying to mask their true selves from the world, but if a tiny bit of 'help' here or there makes a woman feel better about herself, makes her more confident, and therefore makes her feel more attractive, whats the harm?

P.S. If I ever spend over 15 minutes doing my make up for ANY occassion... please shoot me. Thanks.

Sometimes I do feel prettier with makeup on, even though people tell me I don't need it. I try not to use a lot because I prefer a natural look, or softer tones rather than bold in your face colors. Also, I apply my makeup in a way that enhances and accentuates my features so that it's no really "hiding" my natural beauty.

I am a woman and I feel the same way that you do! I am still trying to figure that one out. If you say you are pretty why in the heck do you have that stuff on your face. A female will kill you if you say she isn't pretty already so why go further and look like a circus clown from hell! If you believe you are pretty with makeup you should feel pretty without. LET'S HAVE I LITTLE CONFIDENCE LADIES!!!!!

A lot of women/girls wear makeup to enhance their beauty, rather than hiding it. Like me I wear makeup just to enhance my natural beauty, but I don't over do it. Some days I don't even wear makeup because I know I'm beautiful and I don't need to wear makeup to be beautiful.

Some feel like it makes them feel pretty Some think it is a waste of time. Personally I agree with you we look better without make up. But I do wear make up but not to the point where I look like a clown sometimes people just want to make them selves more presentable. Hiding your true looks don't make you feel pretty but women like to think so.

I'm a girl and I don't get the whole paste on face thing either. But a little makeup can enhance or detract from certain areas. I can get Mascara eyeliner or lipstuff. I think some people get makeup happy.

I like to wear make up but not too much, just a little mascara to enphasise my eyes and if i have a few spots ill use a little concealer, but some girls do like to go all the way and wear far too much!!
I wouldnt go out to a nightclub with no make up on at all!!!
Id like to make an effort, and yes it would make me feel sexy n pretty!!

I mean some people feel beautiful with out make up and thats great. But you dont have to hide your true looks underneath make-up. you can just add a few little dashes of make-up here and there and it can really accentuate your pretty features!

It's more of a domino effect. if you look pretty because you put on makeup then you will feel pretty because you look pretty. Some clown looking girls like the originality and trust me there are guys that appreciate it.

no it makes me feel old and wrinkly.
it will do that to a user later on in life.
If a girl starts at 13 or 14, by 25 they will look 35 w/o makeup
