well guys ..hopefully someone has been in the same situation and can put my mind at rest. I am 23 and stopped using birth control around 2 years ago(the combined pill), this was due to medical reasons and not actually to start a family.
i have been with my fiance for 4 years and we are getting married soon, we stopped using condoms around a year ago as we would love to have a child together. unfortuantely nothing seems to be happening!
I do have polycystic ovary syndrome, but have quite a normal cycle now,so surely if i have and am ovulating then something should of happened within the year!!?.i am just worried i cant conceive. maybe we dont have sex enough ...at most its once, twice a week...hard with work were like ships in the night lol!!.

First of all, read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler and follow the method to find out if you are, in fact, ovulating and if your luteal phase (time between ovulation and the next period) is long enough--at least 11 days. If either of these is a problem, then you will know why you aren't getting pregnant.

If both of these seem okay, then you need to have sex more often *during* the time you are fertile (shortly before ovulation). If your fiance is normally to very fertile, have sex every day. If he has a low to low-average sperm count, have sex every *other* day. If you're not sure, either have him tested (it's simple and relatively inexpensive), or pick one as a first guess. Either way...when those 2 ships pass (nighttime *or* day!!), make sure they pass *very* close!! :-)

I have Endometriosis so after a year of being unsuccessful i went to my doc to get checked out, i would do the same if i were you just to rule any other probs out. Twice a week should be fine, according to my specialist the sperm can live for 2-3 days in the fallopian tubes. My sister in law has POS and was told she would never have children but she recently had a baby. You wont rest until you get checked out, i am sure the reason i have been unsuccessful is because i was stressing about being infertile. Now i know there are no problems i hope it happens soon. I know how heartbreaking it is, especially when everyone else is pregnant, some days i get so down so dont feel like your alone. Coming on this site has made me realise how man women are in the same situation. If you would like someone to E mail and get stuff off your chest then feel free to get in touch, Good luck xx

I am infertile I found out 14 years ago. I would not worry just yet check out the link below it will help you calculate your ovulation better and you will know more if you are trying properly. After a couple of months if this doesn't work go see your doctor for further family planning
I wish you all the best good luck

I've heard from so many people that you are the most fertile a week after your period..but i think it varies from woman to woman in many cases. Some women spend years trying to concieve.Best advice is, consult a dr. find out what week you are fertile. Some women are very fertile and some just are'nt. or maybe your syndrome might have something to do with it.

If you have been having unprotected sex with your partner for a year and haven't conceived, you should go see a fertility specialist. Especially with PCOS. They will be able to answer any questions you have regarding this syndrome and how it affects your fertility. Good luck!

With PCOS starting a low carb/low glycemic diet can help improve fertility - even if your periods appear to be normal... Also, once you're officially married maybe you'll feel more relaxed and nature will take its course!
